Living as a bicoastal photographer and visual artist, Hunter spends her time divided between Charleston, South Carolina and Los Angeles. Summoning visual harmonies from mind to lens, Hunter understands the importance of compositions with wide angles and long limb shots. A somewhat signature of hers. When focusing on style Marina always stays consistent with bold colours , great 90s to Y2K aesthetics and a lot of attitude within her visuals from prom queen to killer princess. There is definitely an inferno of female potency within her work.
Delving deeper into Hunter's inspiration, it is shown that poetry plays a huge role in her shots providing the emotional backdrops needed in her shoots. She finds both visual and written expression go hand in hand conditioning the therapeutic outlet she needs. Before film was poetry and her poetry will sometimes start with a film. Mixing mediums is something Hunter appreciates and finds herself doing more and more.

As a Tumblr girl living in an ever evolving world, Pinterest is her go to nowadays for editorials, 90s aesthetics and Steve Madden ads. Sometimes ideas pop out of her and she writes them down in a journal or draws them out from vision and sometimes she stores ideas she gets from everyday and looks back at them for inspiration. Hunter gets her stimulation from what's around her, what she loves and how it makes her feel. Her muses range from Sofia Coppola, Sylvia Plath and Lana Del Rey. This results in a definite recognisable colour palette and surrealist edge. If you take into consideration her love for Halloween. The combination of styles creates for a Marina Hunter special.

Hunter believes using social medias to your advantage without losing who you are as a photographer can be done. It's ok to follow trends even if they don't follow your niche, as knowing what's trending can really help bring your work to the foreground, create ideas for other shoots and keep you evolving. Hunter is able to keep her artist aesthetic present during commercial work because of this. Her talents have got her to great places with high end magazines such as Inked Magazine and Playboy. Her next goal would be to create more album covers.
