Contests and Juried Exhibitions are both great ways for Photographers to gain exposure for their work. Displaying your art will essentially lead to some great new connections and opportunities. You never know who's going to come across your work!

For those who don't know where to begin, here are a few upcoming contests and exhibitions to get you started.

The Black Box Gallery is a Contemporary Art gallery in Portland, OR. The gallery is hosting an open-themed Juried show for their space. The Black Box Gallery puts together a Juried International photo show each month which provides important opportunities for emerging photographers.

The New York Center for Photographic Arts in New York put together an International photography competition, inviting photographers to submit images under the theme of "The Human Body". The winners will receive $4,000 in cash awards and be featured on the NYC4PA Online Gallery and in the winners' catalog. The Grand Prize-winning image will be posted on the NYC4PA home page.

The PhotoPlace Gallery is a gallery in Middlebury, VT. They put together monthly juried exhibitions that are open Internationally. This month they are looking for photographs that fall under the theme of "Dreams and Imaginings". The PhotoPlace Gallery welcomes all photographs that may be deeply personal, fantastical, beautiful, or disturbing.

The Image Flow is a gallery in San Anselmo, CA. The gallery also offers workshops and printing services. They are hosting an International Juried Exhibition under the theme of "Community". The Image Flow asks for artists to rethink and redefine the concept of community, how they see it or how they wish it to be seen.

The Decode Gallery

The Decode Gallery is a submission-based photography gallery based out of Tucson, AZ. They are hosting an April Juried Exhibition under the theme "Storyteller". There will be twenty-two images selected to be exhibited, and for the accepted photographers The Decode Gallery will handle all printing for free.

Möbius Photo

Möbius Photo is an online platform based out of New York. They are currently holding a photography competition for images that fall under the theme "Landscape", photos that transport the viewer. The winners of the contest will be announced 2 weeks after the closing date, March 31, and have the opportunity to be interviewed for a podcast and printed in a biennial publication. Some works will be selected to be shown live on their website in a gallery format.
